Next Autodesk User Group, June 2nd

I missed the last few meetings, been way too busy – new baby, but this one looks cool.  Hope to see you all there.  - Cornell

The next AAUGA meeting will take place on Thursday June 2nd from 6 to 9pm at the PB offices in downtown Denver. Here is the address: 555 17th Street, 6th Floor Denver, CO 80202.

For this meeting, David Sparks, Sean Willsey and Jason Smith from Fay Engineering will be demonstrating the company's portable motion capture system. The system consists of a suit worn by a performer and a single computer running a custom software application to record the data. They will show their workflow from Motion Builder to 3ds Max and Character Studio. Located here in Denver, Fay Engineering has been using motion capture for over 5 years, extending their accident simulation and visualization capabilities to include humans. In the course of their work they have captured motion from a large range of people, everything from ballroom dancers to railroad engineers. This is one of the few portable MoCap systems in the Western US and it's a great chance to get a first hand peak at this unique, yet growing part of the CG industry.

Also remember to bring your latest and greatest animations, renderings models, project, etc. to show and tell to the group. I look forward to seeing you all there.
