The Position: The department of Art & Design is an exciting new department at the Community College of Aurora, blending traditional artistic disciplines with those emerging from developing technologies. The Colorado Film School is an entity and department at Community College of Aurora (CCA) and has been identified as a leading film school in the nation by International Cinematographers Guild Magazine. The college is seeking a full-time faculty in Animation and Graphics that will report to the Chair of Art & Design while collaborating closely with the Director of the Colorado Film School.
The range of uses for 3D animation/modeling is expanding and the Art & Design department is preparing students for entry level employment or continuing education in a variety of fields including animation, film, web graphics, engineering, and forensics.
The successful candidate will possess an extensive knowledge of 3D animation in one or more of the above industries and have the ability to work well in a collaborative environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong administrative and interpersonal skills, teaching and leadership ability, and a collaborative working style.
The ideal candidate will be a creative leader and educator with the skills to work with faculty, industry and other partners to prepare students for careers in a variety of positions within the Animation and Graphics industries. The successful candidate will be able to develop and teach courses in 3D modeling and animation, Maya, sculpting for digital media, compositing, and integrating live and computer generated imagery, all with an emphasis on storytelling. Responsibilities include active participation in the academic life of the college, the departments, and the local industry.
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively lead, motivate, communicate, concentrate, analyze data, pay attention to detail, retain learned knowledge, instruct/teach, demonstrate strong organizational skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters in a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Significant industry professional experience.
  • Experience teaching college level courses.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Established network of industry and professional connections.
International level of professional experience in animation & graphics program development.
