Hey, Animators, Send ASIFA-Colorado your Shorts!

asifa_logo[1] ASIFA-Colorado is looking for animations to show off.  If you’ve created an animation – we want to see it!



Animation Submission Entry Rules:


    Eligibility. Animations of any medium that are suitable for general viewing may be submitted. Entries will be screened for story, clarity, technical ability and length.  Any entries submitted must be more than 30 seconds but less than 10 minutes.  Films may be works in progress, but must be finished by the final submission date. Accepted formats for submissions are:

    • NTSC-VHS

    • Auto-start DVD

    • CD-ROM (with universally accepted movies or avi compressed files)
        Upon acceptance final format will be discussed but will be digitally based. Entry Fee. There is no entry fee but selected entrants must be a member of ASIFA-Colorado by the time the Reel is released. Entering. Animations should be sent with the completed and signed participant agreement form. Include the following:

        • VHS/DVD of the entry for previewing (you may hold final format until after acceptance of the film.)

        • Synopsis of the film, which includes credits.

        • Brief by-lines of key players involved in the animation.

        • Promotional material, if available.

        • Signed Participation Agreement.
            Materials should be sent to: ASIFA-Colorado, 6585 W. 62nd Place , Arvada , Colorado 80003 USA . Shipping and handling must be paid by the entrant. All correspondence and supporting materials must be in English.  ASIFA-Colorado is not responsible for lost or damaged entries.  Participants may enter more than once but must complete a separate participant agreement form and entry fee. Categories. When submitting please mark your reel as being in one of the following categories.  If there is an overlap in categories choose the one that most appropriately fits your entry. Commercial – works created to promote a product or service. Educational – any work that is used to instruct or inform and/or to show off an educational technique. Student work – any work created by a student. Non-commercial – works that do not fall in one of the other categories. Selection. All entries will be screened by the ASIFA-Colorado Reel Committee. ASIFA-Colorado Reel Committee will inform entrants by email or phone, whether or not an animation has been accepted. Material of rejected animations will be returned if postage is provided. Material of accepted animations will be retained by the ASIFA-Colorado Reel Committee and if not previously sent any finished material is required. Accepted animation final formats MUST be received by May 31, 2009 . To be selected submissions should:

            • Keep within the time limits.

            • Be creative and artistic.

            • Be understandable by English-speaking audiences(i.e., if the film is not in English than the story must be understood with visual cues.)

            • Not promote bias of any kind.

            • Not contain excessive or gratuitous violence, nudity or profanity.

            • Be enjoyable.

              Acceptance.
              Accepted reels will be compiled on an ASIFA-Colorado Reel to be distributed worldwide promoting the art of animation and animators of Colorado .  No other payment is implied.

              Prizes.
              All qualifying participants will receive an ASIFA-Colorado T-Shirt, a copy of the compiled DVD and free entry to the premiere screening of the reel.  In addition, all accepted reels will be judged by the ASIFA-Colorado board, and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 submissions.  ASIFA-Colorado board members are ineligible for any prizes.
