Greg German was trained as a medical illustrator at UT Southwestern and graduated with an M.A. in Biomedical Communications. His thesis was a 3D computer animation exploring the physics and physiology of the inner ear. His professional career has taken him from medical animation for pharmaceutical ads to working as a character animator and modeler on games for Warner Bros® and Hasbro®.

Woodworking and building furniture was always a personal outlet for Greg. After a brief stint as an animation instructor at the Art Institute of Colorado, Greg made the leap to become an apprentice in Edward V. Dick's Arvada repair shop. For several years after the apprenticeship, Edward and Greg collaborated to produce a line of steel string flattop guitars.

Greg is a seasoned computer modeler, and computer animation allows him to experiment with different instrument designs before they are built. His medical illustration training has ingrained in him an attention to detail that he now applies to Lutherie.  You can see his work at www.germanguitars.com
