Description: Tools Programmer

NetDevil, located in Louisville, CO, was founded in 1997 with the mission of developing massively multiplayer games in unique settings for wide audiences. The studio is currently developing Jumpgate Evolution and LEGO Universe as well as an original IP.

The Tools Programmer supports the Senior Tool Specialist with tool development to make work flow as efficient as possible. This includes making tools for all disciplines: Art, Design, QA, GM and Tech departments.

Essential Functions:

  • The primary focus of this position is enhancing usability tools for our internal level editor.
  • Communicate with other departments to improve existing tools
  • Implement new tools focused on iteration time of members on the team
  • Active participant in regular team meetings discussing related issues to productivity, process, work flow and quality
  • Create tools for debugging game play and other engine feature sets

Abilities:

  • Experience working on a development team and proactively recognize and raise quality issues and suggest appropriate resolutions
  • Understanding of game content pipeline and tools
  • Service-oriented attitude with an eye for efficiency and workflow
  • An ability to work with all types of development staff
  • Excellent speaking, persuasion, presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with and work effectively on a team

Functional Knowledge:

  • Fluent in C++ and Object Oriented Design Principles (1+ years)
  • C# and Flash, ActionScript knowledge a big plus
  • Experience with Windows GUI development
  • Experience with Maya, MEL and plug-in development a plus
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Ex. Python, Lua, UnrealScript, GameMonkey Script, Perl, Rexx, Tcl, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio .NET or greater
  • Familiarity with Version Control Software (Ex. Alienbrain, Perforce, Subversion, Source Safe, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Gamebryo and its plug-in architecture a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of Massively Multiplayer Games
  • Willing to relocate to Louisville, CO area for full-time employment
