Description: Concept Artist
NetDevil, located in Louisville, CO, was founded in 1997 with the mission of developing massively multiplayer games in unique settings for wide audiences. The studio is currently developing Jumpgate Evolution and LEGO Universe as well as an original IP.

This position will be responsible for producing high quality concept visuals including sketches, color comps, polished illustrations, paint-overs etc., to drive and finalize visuals toward a next gen/pre-rendered cinematic quality for video games, and Web graphics.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for producing environmental, creature and character visual concepts for video game and web graphics
  • Responsible for applying the final painting pass to pre-rendered 3d assets
  • Responsible for working with game design staff and project management to ensure concepts drive AAA quality visuals within constraints of a very specific art style
  • Must be an active participant in regular team meetings discussing Art related issues to productivity, process, work flow and quality
  • Must be an effective listener, able to resolve problems, empathic and decisive
  • Must take advantage of new technology features
  • Must participate in game play test sessions
  • Position reports to Lead Concept Artist and Art Director

Abilities:

  • Must have exceedingly strong digital painting skills
  • Must have extremely strong drawing and painting skills of highest competitive level in the industry
  • Must have a critical eye and be able to flourish in and adapt to the visual intent of the project
  • Must be able to receive constructive criticism and react, producing iterations as needed
  • Proven Oral & Written Communications Skills
  • Proven Organizational and Analytical skills

Superior Knowledge:

  • Photoshop or Painter
  • Functional Knowledge:
  • Outlook
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Perforce

Knowledge of these programs a plus:

  • Maya or 3DS Max
  • Illustrator
  • MS Office
  • Version Control Software

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a fine arts or visual design degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must have strong people skills
  • Must be willing to relocate to Denver, CO area for full-time employment
  • Must have a working knowledge or interest in Massively Multiplayer Games
  • Must be willing to travel internationally infrequently
