JOB ALERT!!! Senior Game Level Designer - NetDevil

Senior Level Designer will be responsible for developing, communicating, implementing and iterating on design ideas, and the instruction and mentorship of other designers.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement fun gameplay using rapid prototyping and iteration.
  • Design within the constraints of existing game systems, proprietary toolsets, performance budgets and visual requirements.
  • Set up extensive triggering, scripting and AI behavior manipulation.
  • Proactively acquire necessary information, including both design elements and technical procedures, and communicate information to the rest of the team.
  • Take ownership of game systems or modes and drive them to completion by working with various disciplines.

  • Implement fun, focused level design and impressive visuals from concept to shipping status.
  • Think critically and diagnose problems in complex scripted events.
  • Develop game elements that align with core vision philosophies and principles

  • Height field & terrain manipulation, geometry, object and spawner placement.
Functional Knowledge:
  • Expert with one or more game editor toolsets, and enough experience and understanding to pick up new toolsets quickly
  • Fluent in at least one scripting language, preferably Lua
  • Deep understanding of game-industry systems and ability to clearly identify and replicate what makes them successful
  • Expert with common design and documentation tools such as MS Office, Visio, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with Version Control Software (Ex. Alienbrain, Perforce, Subversion, Source Safe, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years game industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • One or more game credits as a level designer.
  • MMO or children's game development experience preferred.
  • Passion for games.
  • Willing to relocate to Denver, CO area for full-time employment.
